NotesHandwritten on verso: Packtrain at first crossing on Gold Creek with pipe for ventilation in the tunnel. Tom Denny in the lead, Lawrie driving. Mines were about four miles up the creek.

Handwritten on negative jacket: 1900. 1897-1898. Old Gold Creek Series. Uncle Tom Denny and pack train loaded with 6" gal sheet iron pipe at first crossing of Gold Creek for Flannigans Mine. Flannigans Mine was below the Esther Mines. I packed the rest of the pipe by putting gunny sacks over the ends and lashing on the pack saddle. It worked OK.
