| Title | Guest book for Fir Lodge |
| Photographer | Richard Nicol |
| Date | 1904-1929 |
| Notes | Alki Point was a community of resorts and vacation homes catering to well-to-do Seattle residents, and viewed itself as a distinct community separate from the City of West Seattle. In 1903, Gladys and William Bernard began construction of Fir Lodge. This country estate, located near Alki Point in West Seattle, was a good example of the Rustic Style of architecture in the Puget Sound region. Fir Lodge became a community gathering place, serving as the first clubhouse for the fledgling Seattle Auto Club from 1907-1911. Since 1950, the structure has been home to the Alki Homestead Restaurant, and the Log House Museum is in the carriage house. This guest book was signed by visitors and summer residents of the Fir Lodge estate on Alki Beach. The back pages were used to reserve the tennis court. |
