| Notes | Robert Moran and his wife Annie lived in Seattle where he worked initailly as a steamboat engineer. Moran and his brothers soon opened a shipyard on Seattle's waterfront. Robert Moran was elected mayor of Seattle in 1888, and governed the city during the Seattle Fire of 1889. He and his brothers lost their business in the fire, rebuilt the shipyard and successfully launched the Battleship Nebraska in 1907. When Robert Moran's health failed, he and his wife built a beautiful mansion at Rosario on Orcas Island which is now a hotel. |
