| Notes | The Lake Washington Shipyards was mobilized for production for the United States Navy during World War II, building submarine net tenders and seaplane tenders, as well as repairing warships for allies as well as for the U.S. This photograph shows the dramatic size of the mobilized shipyard on Kirkland's lakeshore, employing more than eight thousand workers. This brochure was included in the Real Property Case File and was created as part of the shipyard disposal process by the War Assets Administration at the war's end. Today, this site includes the multi-use development of Carillon Point. |
