| Notes | Early Jewish settlers in western Washington often made a living as peddlers and merchants. Cooper and Levy, here shown, outfitted would-be miners on their way to various gold strikes in Alaska and in Canada. During the Gold Rush decade, Cooper and Levy was the one of the best known and most successful Seattle outfitters, providing everything from blankets to gold pans, dried apples and tools. |
