Note from donor file: This photo taken about 1899 by H.P. Jukes, an employee of the Merchants Bank of Halifax in Republic. It was labeled Bazinski and Burnett. I believe the man on the right with the mustache is Simon Bazinski. I remember him when I was a kid in the 20's.

| Contextual Notes | Simon Bazinski arrived in the remote gold mining town of Republic, in the northeast corner of Washington state, in 1898. As many as 25 Jewish families settled in the area for the next 12 years but most moved away to Seattle or Spokane by 1920. |
