| Notes | South School opened in 1889 and educated primary students who lived south of Cherry Street. The main building closed on February 23, 1909 and was later demolished. Bailey Gatzert School was at the same location from 1921 to 1984 (demolished in 1987).

Note from donor file: First grade class, 1901, "Old South School" (now Bailey Gatzert School). Donor identifies slate-holder as P. Allen Rickles, boy to his left as Sam Clein, girl on left end first row - as Esther Clein.
