| Contextual Notes | Senator Henry M. Jackson was chairman of the Permanent Investigations Subcommittee, which held hearings on energy shortages and skyrocketing energy prices. The Current Energy Shortages Oversight Series included eight parts, from December 1973 to April 1974, with three hearings in January 1974 focused on the seven largest oil companies.
