Jackson and Mount Vernon Mayor Herman Hanson discussed the battle that led to the eventual construction of the new Mount Vernon city center when Mayor Hanson was in Washington, D.C., last week. Jackson worked with Hanson and other city officials in securing a $150, 000 Community Facilties Administration public works grant which is detailed in the June 30, 1963 article in the Skagit Valley Herald that Jackson holds. Hanson reported the city is now making use of the new facility. The mayor stopped in Washington, D.C., after attending a mayor's convention in Miami, Florida |
