| Caption | Depot and telegraph office at East Auburn. Telegrapher Redmond H. Cosgrove standing in front with daughters Louise and Marjorie Cosgrove. This depot building was moved around 1945 (wartime) and is now used as a home on I street between J and K. East Auburn depot was used for passengers changing trains to go to Tacoma - a transfer station with a telegrapher's office and a room off the end for railroad workers to obtain shelter or rest. When telegraph service was discontinued a smaller shelter was built for use by the public at the same location which remained in service until the end of Amtrak operations in 1981. |
