|Title||Four men in front of Rainier Valley Barber Shop, Seattle, 1961 |
|Caption||The Rainier Valley Barber Shop was the number one barber shop in Columbia City. The four men in the photo worked for proprietor Menzo LaPorte. This photo was probably taken after LaPorte's retirement after cutting hair for five generations of Rainier Valey residents, starting in 1907. The barbers in the photo are, left to right: Pat Masi; Bob Murphy, who worked for him the longest; Tommy Dore; and Bill, last name unknown, who took care of the shoeshine stand. The barber shop occupied five different locations during its 50 years in Columbia City. |
