Streetcar wreck in front of Toby Building, Seattle, 1917
TitleStreetcar wreck in front of Toby Building, Seattle, 1917
PhotographerUnknown
Date1917
CaptionCar #107 has jumped the tracks at Rainier Avenue and Edmunds Street. Details of the accident are not clear since in normal operations two steetcars would not have been operated so close together. It does appear, however, that the rear end of the front car #111 has been knocked slightly off the rear truck. A rock or an obstruction in the northbound tracks at Edmunds Street could have caused the front truck of Car #107 to jump across to the southbound tracks.
NotesLettering on car reads: Rainier Beach. Please have exact fare ready.

Caption taken from RVHS records.
