Hillman
was a
prominent
real
estate
developer
around
the
turn
of the
century.
He
sold
land
in
communities
around
the
Seattle
area
,
including
Hillman
City.
He was
later
convicted
for
mail
fraud
when
he
made
false
promises
about
a
development
north
of
Everett.
He
served
18
months
in
prison
at
McNeil
Island
before
continuing
his
career
in
California.
