CaptionClarence D. Hillman was a prominent real estate developer around the turn of the century. He sold land in communities around the Seattle area, including Hillman City. He was later convicted for mail fraud when he made false promises about a development north of Everett. He served 18 months in prison at McNeil Island before continuing his career in California.
