CaptionThis barber shop and pool room, owned by Lee Gardner and Menzo LaPorte, was located at 4866 Rainier Avenue from 1908 to 1923. The AYP refers to the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, which took place on the University of Washington campus in 1909.
NotesSigns on building read: AYP Pool Room. Gardner & LaPorte Fine Candies, Cigars and Tobacco. Shave 15 cents. Owl cigar, now 5 cents.

Handwritten on verso: 1909. Rainier Valley Barber shop and AYP Pool Room. LaPorte and Gardner are standing beside dog.
