| Caption | In 1943, major league rosters were depleted by military service, giving a number of Pacific Coast League players a shot at the big leagues. This made space on Coast League rosters for youngsters like Bellingham's 18 year old pitcher Clarence "Cuddles" Marshall, and brought veterans like former Philadelphia Phillie/Seattle Rainier Len Gabrielson out of retirement. Marshall later pitched for the Yankees and St. Louis Browns, and Gabrielson's son Len Jr. played major league ball in the 1960s and 1970s. |
