| Caption | When it was built, this road was named Empire Way after railroad baron James J. Hill, the "Empire Builder." The name was changed to Martin Luther King Jr. Way in 1983. The route went through Rainier Valley, crossing Rainier Avenue in front of Franklin High School. It continued southwest going through a cut in Beacon Hill and then along the west side of Beacon Hill, eventually going east into Renton. |
