| Date | 1942 |
| Caption | This trio is intimately connected to Seattle baseball history.
Soriano was a classmate, teammate and best friend to Fred Hutchinson at Franklin High School, and like Hutch, signed a contract with the hometown Rainiers upon graduation. He went on to be a player and later general manager for the Rainiers, then ascended to the presidency of the Pacific Coast League. He brought major league baseball to Seattle in 1969 with the American League Seattle Pilots.
Alice Brougham was the daughter of Seattle's legendary sportswriter and sports editor Royal Brougham, and was also a graduate of Franklin High. Miss Brougham was the unofficial mascot of the P.C.L. Seattle Indians and Rainiers starting in the early 1920s, and through her teenage years in the 1930s. Five years after this picture was taken, Soriano and Brougham were married.
"Kewpie" Dick Barrett was a great pitcher for the Seattle Indians and Rainiers from 1935 to 1942, and 1947 to 1949, winning over 200 games in a Seattle uniform. He was a key cog of the great Seattle Rainiers championship teams of 1939, 1940 and 1941, winning 66 games over that stretch. "Kewpie" Dick pitched a perfect game no-hitter for the Rainiers in 1948 at the age of 42, and is a beloved fan favorite to this day. |
