The mine was located at Cedar Mountain, a small mining town 6 miles upstream of Renton on the Cedar River [Renton Historical Society notes].
The Indian Mine was a very profitable mine and operated under various owners until the 1940s [source of note: Morda C. Slauson. Renton: From Coal to Jets].
