| Caption | The George Washington Memorial Bridge, more commonly referred to as the Aurora Bridge because it forms part of Aurora Highway (U.S. 99), spans Lake Union, connecting Seattle's Fremont and Queen Anne neighborhoods. The first major highway bridge constructed in Seattle, it was completed in 1932. This image of the newly-constructed bridge is taken from the northeast. The smaller Fremont bridge can be seen at left, just west of the new bridge. |
