| Title | University Golf Club, Seattle, ca. 1931 |
| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | ca. 1931 |
| Caption | The University Golf Club stretched along Pacific Avenue for a few holes, and then picked up across Montlake Boulevard E., ending at Husky Stadium. It was carved out of an undeveloped landscape in 1912 and for several decades offered faculty, staff and students the chance to play nine holes for very little money. The golfing community must have regretted the construction of the UW School of Medicine on this site in 1947. It was the only tract of land large enough to accommodate the planned medical complex. |
