| Caption | Around 1912, Bellevue, Washington had around 600 inhabitants. Nine daily mail boats and a number of steamers connected Bellevue with Seattle. The area was rural, with numerous fruit orchards and dairy farms. Several hundred acres of Bellevue farmland were devoted to strawberries. This photo, taken around 1912, shows strawberries and fruit trees growing on the Pettit & Sons farm near Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue, Washington. |
