| Title | Steam shovels and conveyor tracks on the Denny Hill regrade, ca. 1930 |
| Photographer | Peak, Roy M. |
| Date | ca. 1930 |
| Caption | In the second Denny Hill regrading project, workers used electric steam shovels and conveyor tracks to move large amounts of earth and rock. Some conveyors stayed in one place, and others could be moved to where they were needed. The steam shovels dumped dirt into hoppers that moved along the conveyors. The dirt was carried to the waterfront, where it was emptied into barges and dumped into Elliott Bay. This photo, taken around 1930, shows the steams shovels and conveyor tracks used during the second Denny Hill regrading project. |
