| Title | Burke Building, Seattle, ca. 1898 |
| Photographer | Wilse, Anders Beer, 1865-1949 |
| Date | ca. 1898 |
| Caption | Judge Thomas Burke selected architect Elmer H. Fisher to design two buildings in 1889, one of which was the impressive Burke Building on the northwest corner of 2nd and Marion. Construction had barely begun when the June 1889 fire destroyed much of Seattle's business district, so completion was delayed until 1891. Fragments of this building remain as decorative elements in the plaza of Seattle's new Federal Building. |
