| Title | Beach at Golden Gardens, ca. 1929 |
| Photographer | Webster & Stevens |
| Date | ca. 1929 |
| Caption | During hot weather, Seattle residents went to nearby swimming beaches. They could travel north by automobile or streetcar to Golden Gardens, on Shilshole Bay. The city purchased the popular beach in 1923, and the park opened several years later. This photo of Golden Gardens beach was taken about 1929, the year the bathhouse was built. Swimmers changed their clothes in the bathhouse. At that time, people didn't wear bathing suits on the street. |
