| Caption | The automobile road over Snoqualmie Pass opened in 1915. It passes through the town of North Bend which, in 1924, had a population of only 387. This photo, taken around 1928, shows an automobile driving on a wooden plank railroad crossing at North Bend. The highway was being paved at the time. In the background are a hotel, a cafe, a gas station and tire shop, and other road-related businesses. |
