| Caption | In March 1934, a bungled robbery resulted in the murder of six people on Erland's Point near Bremerton, Washington. The crime took place in Frank and Anna Flieder's beach house where guests had gathered for the weekend. Sensational publicity snarled the investigation for months until a barmaid confessed to being a reluctant accomplice to Leo Hall, an ex-fighter. Hall was convicted of the crime and sentenced to death in 1936. In this photo, the covered body of a victim is carried to a truck while a crowd looks on. |
