| Photographer | Milkie Studio |
| Date | 1965 |
| Caption | This view from the stage towards the Opera House's balconies shows audience members filling in some of the hall's 3100 seats. Built as Seattle's Civic Auditorium in 1927, the building was renovated as the Seattle Opera House for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The Seattle Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet, comedian/pianist Victor Borge and many others performed in the Opera House during the fair. After the fair, the building continued to be the home of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. The building was extensively remodeled between December 2001 and June 2003, and reopened as Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. The Seattle Opera and the Pacific Northwest Ballet are currently its two major tenants. |
