| Date | 1962 |
| Caption | This photo shows the front of the Seattle World's Fair press department building with a World War I memorial sculpture in the foreground. The building was the VFW Veterans Hall and was leased by the Centruy 21 Exposition, Inc. and reverted to VFW use after the fair. Veterans Hall was demolished in 2002. The sculpture "Doughboy, " by Alonzo Victor Lewis, is shown on the right. Dedicated in 1932 as a World War I memorial, it originally stood in front of the Civic Auditorium (now Seattle Opera House) and was moved for the Seattle World's Fair. In 1998, it was again moved to Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Evergreen-Washelli cemetery in North Seattle. |
