| Title | Car going through giant cedar stump, ca. 1950 |
| Photographer | Ellis, J. Boyd |
| Date | ca. 1950 |
| Caption | By about 1950, when this photographic postcard was probably made, the few remaining stumps of western Washington's gigantic trees existed only as curiosities -- something to marvel at or, in this case, drive through. This postcard image shows a car driving through a gigantic western red cedar stump at Arlington, Washington. The sign above the hole in the tree tells visitors that this relic of a vanquished forest was preserved by Snohomish County pioneers in 1922. |
