| Caption | David Davies, secretary of the New Jersey Tercentenary Commission is shown smoking a peace pipe with Native Americans. Fair officials had provided substandard lodging for a group of New Jersey visitors attending their state's celebration day. Upon learning of the mistake, fair officials offered the group new accommodations and free admission, and Native Americans performing at the Indian Village offered the pipe of peace. |
