The intersection of Fourth and Westlake Avenues, ca. 1919
The intersection of Fourth and Westlake Avenues, ca. 1919
TitleThe intersection of Fourth and Westlake Avenues, ca. 1919
PhotographerWebster & Stevens
Dateca. 1919
CaptionThe intersection of Westlake and Fourth Avenues continued to develop as Seattle's business district expanded to the north.
If you compare this photo, taken about 1919, with one taken at the same location about ten years earlier, it is easy to see how much car traffic in Seattle had increased. In this later photo, Fourth Avenue, to the left, has been regraded and is now at almost the same level as Westlake. The Plaza Hotel stands at the intersection in both photos.
