| Title | Workers on Northern Pacific Railroad, ca. 1910s |
| Photographer | Unknown |
| Date | ca. 1910s |
| Caption | In the hierarchy of railroad employees, the men who built and looked after the tracks were at the bottom. Each section of track had a section foreman and a group of trackwalkers. The trackwalkers inspected every foot of main line track, sometimes more than twice a day. Track and signal repairs had to be made quickly so that the trains could run safely. This photographic postcard, probably made in the 1910s, shows a Northern Pacific Railroad crew on an unidentified stretch of track in Washington State. |
