| Title | Hairpin curves on Sunset Highway near Snoqualmie Pass, ca. 1910s |
| Photographer | Unknown |
| Date | ca. 1910s |
| Caption | In 1905, the first automobile drove through Snoqualmie Pass on the old wagon road. Even after the Sunset Highway was completed in 1915, driving through the pass was extremely difficult. Many motorists who needed to cross Washington state chose to ship their cars through the Cascade Mountains by train. This photographic postcard, probably made in the 1910s, shows hairpin turns on the gravel-surfaced Sunset Highway through Snoqualmie Pass. |
