| Caption | KING-TV went on the air on Thanksgiving Day, 1948, from its station at the top of Queen Anne Hill. At first, the station operated only in the late afternoons and evenings, and all shows were in black and white. Some programs were locally produced and some came from the three major national networks. The lineup included news, local sports, cooking, music, interviews, and old movies.
In this 1949 photo, cameramen focus on a woman in the KING-TV studio. All shows were done live, without teleprompters. |
