| Title | Sports broadcaster Leo Lassen, Seattle, ca. 1932 |
| Photographer | McBride & Anderson Photographers |
| Date | ca. 1932 |
| Caption | Leo Lassen was a well-known Seattle sportscaster and writer. From 1931 to 1958, Lassen was the radio voice of the Seattle Indians and the Seattle Rainiers baseball teams. Some sports announcers used artificial sound effects while they gave the play-by-play, but Lassen didn't believe in doing this. Lassen did some of the broadcasts from Seattle ice hockey games and University of Washington basketball games.
This photo, probably taken in the 1930s, shows Seattle radio sportscaster Leo Lassen. In addition to his sports broadcasts, Lassen wrote a regular sports column for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. |
