| Photographer | Morley Studios |
| Date | 1962 |
| Caption | The Monorail was built to carry passengers between the Seattle World's Fair grounds and downtown Seattle; it still runs today as the Seattle Center Monorail. At the time it was described as "a preview of the mass transit system of the future." Plastic roofed terminals at track level are served by inclined moving sidewalks known as "speed ramps." From the platform, passengers enter the trains through automated doors. |
