CaptionVincent "Enzo" Mottola, a native of Naples, Italy, was the founder of Vince's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria and other restaurants, and helped to popularize pizza in Seattle before the advent of pizza-place chains.
Mr. Mottola moved to Seattle in 1954. That year, he opened his first restaurant on Pacific Highway South. In 1957, he opened Vince's at Renton Avenue South and South Henderson Street in Rainier Valley. Mottola eventually came to own 14 restaurants.
Vincent Mottola died of heart failure in July 1998, at the age of 65.
