|Caption||Music and fanfare marked the August 27, 1957 grand opening of the Olympic Hotel's new motorcar entrance on University Street. Previously the site of the 1911-vintage Metropolitan Theater that had been systematically encircled by the hotel's initial 1924 construction along Fourth Avenue and the 1928 addition along Fifth Avenue. The theater closed in 1954, its demolition making way for the new hotel entrance. |
