| Caption | Reporter Barbara Bye holds a mirror for Emmett Kelly, the world's most famous clown, and Felix Adler as they apply make-up. Barbara spent the entire day with the 'Greatest Show on Earth.' The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus had set up their tent on Fourth Ave. S. near Michigan St for a three-day stand. Barbara joined the circus for the 'spec, ' the Spectacle or Grand Entry, wearing a sequin spangled lavender costume with peacock-like headdress riding with 3 other girls in a float resembling a giant fruit salad. She also met Jóhann Pétursson, an Icelandic giant, and Harry Doll, billed as 'the smallest man in the world.' |
