CaptionThe Boeing 314 Clipper was a long-range flying boat produced by the Boeing Airplane Company between 1938 and 1941. Preliminary testing of the Boeing Clipper 314 included 250 miles of surface taxiing at varying speeds. The Clipper testing program was described as the most rigorous and thorough of any sea plane to date. This is one of only 12 ever built, the first six planes commissioned by Pan-American Airlines for use on its transoceanic routes.
