| Caption | The Crescent Manufacturing Company was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1883 as Larsen Extract Company. By the early 20th century, Crescent was manufacturing 75 different extracts including Mapleine, as well as importing spices, coffee, and nuts. Crescent was sold to McCormick and Company in 1989, and consolidated its operations in Kent, Washington in 1990.
The Crescent Manufacturing Company daylight factory, seen here, was built in approximately 1926 at Railroad Street South and South Connecticut Street, now Alaskan Way South and South Royal Brougham Way. |
| Notes | Caption on facing page: This building, which is owned by the Crescent Manufacturing Co., was constructed especially for our use and contains all the features of light, air and convenience of operation that have been developed for this type of plant. Note the large area of windows, insuring a maximum of daylight throughout the plant. |
