Datecirca 1950s
CaptionThis photograph is a good example of one of the many in-store celebrity appearances the Bon Marché held. Alvino Rey, the first to amplify the guitar, led big bands in the 1930s-1940s, including Alvino Rey and The King Sisters (where he met his wife Luise King). He joined the Navy in 1944 and served until 1946 after which he continued to play with bands until 1949. In the 1950s Alvino was recording under his own name. In 1965 he became popular on TV as musical director on the variety show "The King Family Show."
NotesHandwritten on verso: Alvino Rey personal appear. 1950's
