| Title | Group at "Gay Nineties" party at Carkeek mansion, February 1934 |
| Photographer | Unknown |
| Date | 1934 |
| Caption | In February 1934, Guendolen Carkeek Plestcheeff and her husband threw a costume dinner at the Boren Street mansion of her parents, Seattle pioneers Morgan and Emily Carkeek. After selling the house, which was to be demolished and replaced with a Standard Oil service station, the Plestcheeffs decided to commemorate the house's demise with a party. Guendolen Plestcheeff decorated the rooms in 1890s style and played music of that period, while the women wore petticoats and frilly trains, and the men, fake handlebar moustaches and top hats. This photograph depicts four party guests in their 1890s attire. |
