Clyde C. "Slim" Williams was a promoter of the Alaska Highway in the 1930s. Williams first rode the proposed route in 1933, by dogsled and in a Model T pulled by sled dogs, from Copper Center, Alaska to Chicago and Washington D.C. to dramatize the necessity of uniting Alaska with the United States by an automobile highway. Williams made a second trip to promote the highway, this time by motorcycle with John Logan and the dog "Blizzard, " in 1939. Logan documented the trip on film. |
