The occasion was a boxing match between Freddie Steele (visible in the ring) and Al Hostak on July 26, 1938, the biggest bout in Seattle's boxing history, with over 35, 000 in attendance and the middle weight title at stake. In a match refereed by Jack Demspsey, Al Hostak knocked out reigning champion Freddie Steele in the first round, winning the World Middleweight title. |
