| Caption | The 48-foot motor yacht Gadget belonged to T. Harry Gowman, owner of the Gowman Hotel at 1620 Second Avenue in Seattle. In the summer of 1929, when he was 18, Norm Blanchard worked for Gowman on the crew of the Gadget for $50 a month-- "pretty good pay in those days for a teenager." |
