CaptionSeattle's brewing industry has a long history, and the name Hemrich is associated with its 19th-century roots. Alvin Hemrich, along with his brother Elmer, is pictured in an 1894 photograph of the brewery worker's annual picnic. Prohibition resulted in a hiatus for the breweries, but its eventual repeal brought about renewed business activity. In 1935, the Hemrich Brewing Co. was located at 5225 East Marginal Way.
