CaptionSeattle Goodwill Industries was founded in 1923 when a group of local businessmen recognized a need to provide training and employment for those without job skills. In the 1930s, Seattle Goodwill began serving individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Financial support for the non-profit organization comes in large part from sales made in its thrift stores.

This photo shows the building that housed the Seattle Goodwill Industries factory, general offices and store at 1400 Lane Street, near the intersection of Rainier Avenue (to the right side) and Dearborn Street to the left.
