CaptionView Ridge Elementary School began in portable classrooms in the fall of 1944, adding additional grades each year until a permanent building was constructed in 1948. Local newspapers described the new building as "streamlined" with all the classrooms on one floor and a maximum number of windows. In this photo, pupils watch a construction worker and the portable school buildings show in the background.
